HUD is a cabinet department in the Executive Branch of the U.S. federal government, founded in 1965. CDBG and HOME funds are distributed by HUD. HUD also provides financing for affordable housing complexes, especially for developments that house developmentally disabled and chronically mentally ill. Section 8 vouchers are also distributed by HUD.
